International Business Strategy
Kangyong Sun is an Associate Professor at Hitotsubashi University’s Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy. He teaches MBA courses on Human Resource Management, Negotiation, and Organization in Emerging Markets. Before joining Hitotsubashi University in 2011, he taught classes on Strategic Management at the Carlson School of Management in the University of Minnesota, which made him a winner of two teaching awards from the Carlson school. He also worked as a research fellow at Beijing University in 2000-2004.
Professor Sun obtained his Ph.D. degree in Strategic Management & Organization from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities, U.S.A.). He also holds a master degree in Applied Economics from Beijing University’s Guanghua School of Management.
Research Interests and Activities
Professor Sun’s current research focuses on management of innovation, new industry creation and entrepreneurship in Japan, and Japanese companies’ global management. His research work has been published in a number of top-tier academic journals including Organization Science, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Academy of Management Perspectives. His co-authored paper on Academy of Management Perspectives received the Academy of Management 2011 Best Article Award. He was also nominated for the Haynes Prize for the Most Promising Scholar by the Academy of International Business in 2006.
