International Business Strategy
Professor Kangyong Sun is the winner of two teaching awards at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He was also nominated for the Haynes Prize for the Most Promising Scholar by the Academy of International Business in 2006. Before joining Hitotsubashi ICS in July 2011, he taught classes in strategic management at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) and has also worked in Beijing University as an assistant research fellow. At Hitotsubashi ICS, he teaches courses on Negotiation (Term 2) and Doing Business in China (Term 4).
Professor Sun received his PhD in Strategic Management and Organization from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in 2011. He also holds an MSc in Applied Economics from the Guanghua School of Management at Beijing University.
Research Interests and Activities
Professor Sun’s research interests include organizational design and change, management of mergers & acquisitions (M&As), conflict management in organizations, and cross-border/cultural management. His work has been published in a number of academic journals including Organization Science, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Academy of Management Perspectives. In addition, he is also an active member of the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, and International Association for Chinese Management Research.
