One of the unique features of our faculty is their real-world work experience in business. About 60% of our full-time faculty members have worked for multinational firms. Norihiko Shimizu worked for more than 20 years at Boston Consulting Group; Sherman Abe worked for more than two decades as an investment banker at First Boston and Merrill Lynch; Ryuji Yasuda worked for more than 20 years at Morgan Guaranty, McKinsey & Company, and A.T. Kearney; Michael Korver worked as a lawyer and as a venture capitalist for more than two decades; Ikujiro Nonaka worked for nine years at Fuji Electric; Yoko Ishikura worked for eight years at McKinsey & Company; and, Christina Ahmadjian, and Emi Osono worked at Mitsubishi Electric, and Sumitomo Bank, respectively.
In addition, many of the full-time faculty members have teaching experience at other business schools. For example, Ikujiro Nonaka taught at the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley; Norihiko Shimizu at the Stanford Business School and the Anderson School at UCLA; Christina Ahmadjian at Columbia University; and Kazuo Ichijo at the IMD Business School in Switzerland. In addition, about two-thirds of the full-time faculty have earned MBAs from leading U.S. business schools.
Faculty members are readily accessible to students inside the classroom as well as outside class. There is ample space within the ICS building where students can interact with faculty members, such as the student lounge, open lounges on faculty floors, cafeteria, and restaurant.
