Hitotsubashi ICS' New Dean

On November 11, 2009, Professor Christina Ahmadjian was elected as the next Dean of Hitotsubashi ICS. She officially takes over in April 1, 2010, from the ICS founding Dean of 12 years, Hirotaka Takeuchi.

Christina Ahmadjian joined ICS in 2001 and is currently a professor teaching Organizational Behavior and Business Research. Professor Ahmadjian is a leading expert on corporate governance, comparative systems of capitalism in East Asia, Europe and the US, and the changing face of the Japanese firm. She holds an A.B. from Harvard University, an MBA from Stanford Business School, and a PhD from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. Before coming to ICS, she was an Assistant Professor at Columbia Business School. Her business experience includes positions at Bain & Company and Mitsubishi Electric. She is currently a non-executive director at Eisai Co., Ltd. and is active in teaching and consulting for a number of Japanese and multinational firms. Professor Ahmadjian was born in Uppsala, Sweden, but is a U.S. citizen. She has lived in Japan for 14 years and speaks Japanese and Chinese, as well as her native English.

After 12 years of laying the groundwork and establishing ICS to be the recognized business school it is today, Hirotaka Takeuchi will be moving on to Harvard Business School as a full-time professor. In the true spirit of serving "as the HITOTSU-BASHI (one bridge) between the U.S. and Japan," he will be responsible for the HBS Japan Research Center in Tokyo, in addition to his work at Harvard.
