Hitotsubashi (1920) and the location of the current ICS campus

Hitotsubashi University has a 135-year history of turning out “Captains of Industry.” Hitotsubashi University began as the Institute for Business Training established in 1875. The Great Kanto Earthquake of September 1923 destroyed almost all of its original buildings and in 1930 the College moved to Kunitachi, its present location, about 25 kilometers (15 miles) west of central Tokyo.

In 1998, Hitotsubashi University established a new Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS) in the heart of Tokyo to focus on imparting practical knowledge and globally relevant skills through an all-English, global MBA program.
